David Saviour Eby versus
Donna Kerry-Lynne Findlay Trump

B.C.’s worst-ever premier can still win.
But even if he doesn’t, the Gleichschaltung shall prevail

Kerry-Lynne Findlay as seen by BC NDP-friendly media

Kerry-Lynne Findlay as B.C.’s Enlightened class wants to see her.

Regardless of whether the B.C. Conservatives’ new leader unites the Slightly Different Party, transforms it into something slightly conservative and forms a government, she can accomplish little or nothing. Fully triumphant, the social revolution directs all aspects of society.

As for the election, when it comes, NDP strategy seemed clear as soon as Kerry-Lynne Findlay became boss Con. Premier David Eby took up his predictable woke stance against the Extreme Far Right Dangerous MAGA Fascist Polarizing Nazi Trope Dogwhistle Narrative Party.

That’s as if a dozen or more years of American Derangement Syndrome weren’t already excessive. Once again Demagogue Dave demonstrated an old saying’s updated version: Woke is the last refuge of a scumbag.

He was hardly alone, as others denounced Findlay with the same trite Americanisms. Never mind that her supposed conservatism amounts to nothing more than having worked under Harper and Poilievre.

Her first challenge, according to standard MSM commentary, is to unite the “ideological division” within her party. No such division exists. The only disagreement is over election strategy, the best way for candidates to (1) get elected or re-elected in their own ridings and (2) form a government with even more lucrative positions as cabinet ministers, parliamentary secretaries, legislative committee members or other extra-money appointments.

Should the majority of B.C. Conservatives actually adopt conservative policies as an election strategy, they’ll need no end of mentoring, training and rehearsing to express a conservative point of view. Like most politicians, they’re conventional products of the last half-century of ideological conditioning. They can’t think for themselves.

They’ll also fear sanctions ranging from social disapproval to doxxing, not to mention future career obstacles. (Politicians and others of the Enlightened class strive to build up multiple double-dipping sinecures and pension entitlements.)

It’s a tad difficult taking a stand when one’s commitment consists of mortgages, cars, skis, golf clubs and Mexican vacations. Most B.C. Liberal/United/“Conservative” MLAs just hope that the social revolution leaves them relatively unscathed: that growing crime somehow bypasses their families and possessions, junkies find other neighbourhoods to fuck up, government compensates property owners for aboriginal takeovers and aboriginal legislative powers turn out benign. Non-white Cons hope their children will be exempt from trans-sexual grooming. White Cons hope their children will enjoy it.

Ideological commitment resides with the NDP and Greens. Not just convention but fervent belief pushes their desire to destroy normality. That commitment comes easily, though. Such are Western death throes that these opportunistic fanatics can have their destruction and profit from it too.

So whether the demagogue and his crew say it explicitly or not, they’ll claim B.C. faces a crisis of hate. Hate, hate, hate. Simplistic as it is, the strategy will push the Extreme Far Right Etc. Dogwhistle Narrativers on the defensive.

Another sensational allegation, this one true, is that Findlay (TRIGGER WARNING!) attends church. One that hasn’t been firebombed. Yet.

Findlay’s age (71!!!) will also come up, maybe not directly from Eby but from his operatives in journalism and social media. These are people who went along with the pretense that Joe Biden ran the U.S. and Kamala Harris was capable of doing so, that former premiers Christie Clark and John Horgan weren’t sub-mediocrities, that former Opposition leader and deputy premier/finance minister Carole James wasn’t dumb as shit, that most of Eby’s cabinet ministers (who comprise most of Eby’s party) aren’t the same and that probably all of B.C.’s very highly esteemed aboriginal leaders and spokespeople aren’t even worse.

Maybe the only legitimate question about Findlay’s cognitive state is how on earth she thinks she can undo any aspect of the social revolution.

Meanwhile Eby’s latest distraction from his disastrous governance is a crusade to end no-pet rules in apartment buildings. He might not realize it but there’s a related election strategy almost certain to extend his power, and in a way that shows British Columbians’ complacency in the face of doom.

His party can nominate as many native and black candidates as possible. B.C. might have the world’s highest concentration of Covid dog owners. They love mascots.
